Privacy Policy

Dos Leches Music and Events Society ("Dos Leches," "we," "us") runs dosleches.ca and the Dos Leches Community Series in Calgary, Alberta. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
What we collect
- When you buy merch: your name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number if you provide one, and the details of your order.
- Payment information: we never see or store your full card number. Payments are handled by Squarespace and its payment processors.
- When you join our email list: your email address, and your name if you give it.
- When you email us or use a contact form: whatever you write, plus your email address.
- When you visit the site: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring site, and time on page, collected through Squarespace Analytics and cookies.
- At our events: photographs and video that may include you. See the photography section below.
Why we collect it
To process and ship your orders, answer your questions, send event announcements to people who asked for them, understand how the site is used, prevent fraud, and meet our legal and tax obligations.
Cookies
This site uses cookies to keep basic functions working, including your shopping cart, and to measure traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them may break the cart and checkout.
We use Brevo to send our event emails. We only email people who signed up. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and it takes effect immediately. We do not sell, rent, or trade our email list.
Photography and filming at events
Our events are public and are photographed and filmed. Images and footage may appear on our site, on social media, in recap videos, and in material prepared for partners, sponsors, and grant applications. If you would rather not appear, tell a photographer on site or email info@dosleches.ca and we will do our best to keep you out of anything we publish.
Who we share it with
We share only what is needed to run the organization, with:
- Squarespace, which hosts our site and store
- our payment processors, which handle payment
- our print and fulfillment partner, which receives your name and shipping address in order to make and ship your order
- shipping carriers
- Brevo, our email platform
- government or law enforcement, where the law requires it
We do not sell your personal information.
Where your data is stored
Squarespace, Brevo, and our fulfillment partner store and process data outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. Your information may therefore be accessible to the courts and authorities of those countries under their laws.
How long we keep it
Order records for seven years, for tax purposes. Email list entries until you unsubscribe. Site analytics according to Squarespace's retention settings. Emails you send us for as long as they are useful, then deleted.
Security
We use established service providers that encrypt data in transit and restrict access. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children
The site and store are not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information online. Our events are all ages and family friendly, which is a separate matter from collecting data.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your consent, or ask us to delete anything we are not required to keep. Email info@dosleches.ca and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca, or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta at oipc.ab.ca.
Changes
We may update this policy. The version posted on this page is the one that applies. Last updated August 15, 2026.
